Project Description

ANNAPURNA SUNRISE CHARITY TREK

Trek in amongst the Annapurna’s, climb Poon Hill and experience one of the best sunrises there is.

An adventurous challenge that caters for most abilities that takes place in the lower Annapurna Region. A tough climb to Poon Hill but low enough not to be troubled by altitude sickness. Wonderful vistas of some 8000m peaks. All within 2 weeks.

  • Trek through rural Nepalese mountain villages providing a true insight of local life
  • The achievement of reaching the top of Poon Hill (3200m), a tough but worthwhile climb
  • Tea house accommodation (lodges), no camping
  • Very experienced Guides
  • Full support pre-trek, Visa help, great hotel, FREE holdall

Having flown into Kathmandu, experience the Nepalese countryside on the drive to the Annapurna mountains before you get trekking. Sleeping in lodges (called tea houses), the trek is at an easy pace as the route meanders its way through rural villages amidst spectacular world class mountain scenery and yet remains low enough not be worried about altitude sickness. After 3 days you reach the highest village; Ghorepani. From here, the jewel in the crown is experiencing the sunrise over the Annapurnas from Poon Hill (3200m). This wonderful photographic hotspot sits in between two of the biggest mountain ranges in the world (Annapurna and Dhaulagiri) as well as overlooking the deepest river gorge in the world (Kali Ghandaki).

At the end of the trek, it takes just 90 mins to transfer to Pokhara. For 2 days it’s time to relax in your well appointed 4* hotel (with a pool), just minutes away from the centre of town. There are lots of adventure activities available including paragliding, microliting, the world’s longest zipwire and mountain bikes. Or you can simply relax and enjoy the shops and restaurants. A domestic flight back to Kathmandu, an overnight stay before your final departure.

This is a moderate paced challenge with a real sense of adventure, and a perfect first time trip for anyone wanting to experience the Himalayas and Nepal.

Altitude issues? – not here. The maximum altitude is 3200m, low enough to keep any serious problems at bay.

Annapurna? – located 200km west of Kathmandu (and the Everest region). This trip provides a more comprehensive experience of Nepal than Everest; the drive to Pokhara, rural farming terrain, 8000m peaks and of course, Pokhara itself.
